Automotive production of the highest calibre

AUDI AG's history as a successful company based in Ingolstadt, on the banks of the Danube, dates back to 1949, when it was known as Auto Union GmbH. The company's management, Technical Development and administrative offices are located on a site covering some 200 hectares. The emphasis, however, is clearly on the production of cars that are a worldwide success – and represent pioneering safety, comfort, design, performance and environmental protection. The production plant typifies the company's striving for supreme standards: advanced production facilities go hand in hand with ingenious environmental technology. The Audi A3, A4 and A4 Avant are built in Ingolstadt. The bodyshells of the TT Coupé and TT Roadster are in addition produced in Ingolstadt. Around 30,000 people were employed here in 2000.

NSU built the chassis for the very first motor car, the Daimler steel car, in Neckarsulm in 1889. At various times throughout its 125-year history it was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world and a car manufacturer of worldwide renown, which merged with Auto Union GmbH in 1969, this new company eventually changing its name to AUDI AG. The Neckarsulm plant has put itself on the map in particular as the production plant for vehicles with all-aluminium bodies. The largest employer in the region (there are currently almost 14,000 employees), it builds the Audi A6, A6 Avant, A8 and long-wheelbase A8, the sports models Audi S6, S6 Avant and Audi S8, and the A2 and Audi allroad quattro. The Neckarsulm-based company quattro GmbH supplies the uncompromisingly sporty RS 6.

Customers can collect their new Audi in person from the Neckarsulm Customer Center.
