The future sports coupé

A new approach to proportioning for Audi design – the clear emphasis on the road – hints at the motor sport pedigree of the Shooting Brake Concept. The typical Audi trait of a high shoulder line and the compact, flat cabin reinforce this impression. Lines that are both dynamic and harmonious converge in the striking tail end.

Front end

The front end generates a strong presence. This effect is prompted substantially by the logically clear layout of the functional elements. The central element of the single-frame radiator grille possesses high aesthetic calibre in respect of its finish, material and design. The open, self-confident appearance of the headlights and the well-flared wheel arches lend extra width to the appearance of the front end. Highly modelled air inlets emphasise the sculptural, sporty look of the front end. As on the sports car study Audi Le Mans quattro, the Audi rings are positioned on the hood.

Sides

Viewed from the side, the visual interest stems from the contrast between flowing lines and the dominant tail end, which brings together the tension-filled lines. The impression created by the rear end is further reinforced by the upswing in the lower window line, giving the C-post a wider appearance. The high-level sill line and the coupé-like descending roof line consciously accentuate the vehicle's flat look.

Rear end

Viewed from the rear, the emphasis is on horizontality, too. The impression of width is created by the highly contoured shoulder areas on the sides and the low body panels, incorporating the diffuser towards their lower edge. The roof spoiler in addition makes the window surface appear narrow. Other important formal features of the rear end are the gently tapering sill line and the rear lights which extend well round into the sides.
The interior design features additional functional appeal.
